1942
In the midst of World War II, the picturesque Silvermere Lake was chosen as the epicentre for Barnes Wallis' groundbreaking catapult experiments. These experiments marked a pivotal moment in his mission to disrupt the enemy's power supplies, effectively crippling their ability to wage war.
1976
Silvermere entered a new era of leisure and recreation with the opening of a masterfully crafted 9-hole golf course by renowned visionaries Neil Coles and Brian Hugget. This year also marked the introduction of the Tavern and various activities, such as tennis, squash, and an Equestrian Centre, inspired by the American Country Club dream. By 1979, the course underwent a significant expansion, crossing over to the other side of the road and transforming into a splendid 18-hole golf course.
1983
Silvermere transitioned from a private members club to a pay-and-play golf destination due to its accessibility and location.
1984
The Hilliard Family diversified their portfolio by acquiring Silvermere Golf, branching out from their original fresh produce businesses. One notable initiative in 1985 was a significant tree planting program, which transformed the course into the tree-lined wonder we know today.
Early 1990s
The original Inn on the Lake clubhouse was demolished and replaced, giving birth to a restaurant that provided a space for relaxation and celebration against the backdrop of Silvermere's serene beauty.
1998-99
The iconic 18th finishing hole, known as "The Island Green," was created to complement the 17th hole, offering a spectacular finish. Players relished the thrill of hitting over the lake onto the island target, while Inn on the Lake visitors hoped to witness a golf ball's watery fate.
2013
The Silvermere family expanded as Left Handed Golf Ltd joined their ranks, relocating from its former home at Kingswood Golf & Country Club where the innovative brand first began trading in 2004. This brand stands out as a unique left-handed only brand in the global market.
2014
Silvermere's commitment to innovation soared to new heights with the grand unveiling of its 52-bay, two-tier driving range. This marked the beginning of Silvermere's transformation into a forward-thinking, technology-driven golfing destination, including the introduction of 4 Custom Fitting Studios unique putter studio and later the introduction of Toptracer Technology on 20-inch screens in 2017.
2016
2016 saw the expansion of The Golf Store, creating an exclusive haven for female golf enthusiasts and doubling the previous women’s retail space.
2021
The journey continued as Silvermere broadened its retail horizons, introducing a unique Clearance Outlet space that offers past-season products at heavily reduced prices.
