Past Events

Over the past few years we have offered a wide range of unique events with visits from the Callaway and Taylormade tour vans to appearances by some of the world’s best golfers!

2004

Seve Ballesteros was arguably the most famous of all European golfers and did an incredible amount for the game of golf right up until his tragic death at the age of only 54! We couldn’t believe it when we knew he was coming to visit Silvermere and you turned out in your hundreds to see him despite the appalling weather conditions.  Even through the rain and wind he showed his true class at the short game area and his quick wit when interacting with the public.  He will be sadly missed.

2006

We have been extremely lucky to host Colin Montgomerie on two occasions, once in August 2006 when he was again flying high and the other in September 2010 where he was very open about his choices for the Ryder Cup.  Ultimately Monty got it right we are pleased to say!

2007

July 2007 featured a visit from Nike star KJ Choi, straight on the back of his victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The visit to Silvermere was followed by a spell leading The Open later in the week!

2008

As you can imagine it is difficult to plan these sorts of events due to the players busy schedules but in 2008 we were spoilt for choice! Visits from Darren Clarke, Henrik Stenson, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Laura Davies and Niclas Fasth, who also had the pleasure of playing with Talk Sport presenters Ronnie Irani and Alan Brazil were all well supported!

2009

In 2009 we were honoured to host a living legend in the form of Neil Coles.  Aged 73 at the time, there is no question this man can shot under his age!  The quality of ball striking and control of ball flight was astonishing and everyone who watched him plot his way around the 6 holes at Silvermere was very impressed, and a true gent to boot.  We were then extremely excited about hosting the man of the moment Lee Westwood shortly after his heart breaking 3rd place finish in the Open at Turnberry.  As well as some mighty impressive golf Lee was very honest about the situation on the last hole up in Scotland and we all hope that will not be the closest he comes to winning a major in the future.

2010

In August 2010 we had the pleasure of hosting Suzann Pettersen to Silvermere.  Her clinic on the range and subsequent junior coaching was enjoyed by everyone and some of the lucky starts were even able to play with her out on the course, a day I’m sure they won’t forget.

2011 …

… we are trying hard to find another player this year but as yet we have nothing in the pipeline but we won’t stop trying!
