Lee Westwood at SilvermereSilvermere was proud to host Ping Tour Player Lee Westwood to our facility back in September 2009. It was a unique chance to get up close and personal with arguably Europe’s best player of 2009 after finishing Tied 3rd in the Open and USPGA Championships. Lee gave a clinic to around 500 people and gave them the opportunity to ask some questions. He did some private lessons with some of our lucky customers who went into a draw after purchasing Ping products. People also got the chance to watch Lee take on the Silvermere Pro’s over 6 of Silvermere’s toughest holes. At the end of the day Lee sat on the Inn on the Lake terrace and signed autographs with a well earned drink.

Lee Westwood Fact File 
Lee John Westwood was born on 24th April 1973 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. He was a talented sportsman at school playing rugby, cricket and football and only turned to golf at a relatively late age of 13. This seemed to have little effect though as only 2 years later he was junior champion of Nottinghamshire!
After turning professional in 1996 he has gone on to win over 25 titles and is one of the few golfers who has won tournaments on every major continent. He was named player of the year for the 1998 and 2000 seasons over which time he remained in the World Top 10. With a return to form over the last few years he again entered the World Top 10 at the end of the 2008 season and has featured strongly in all four majors in 2009.
